Introducing... The Silent Masterpieces Collection
Between 1921 and 1936, Charlie Chaplin made five silent feature films that consistently appear in 'top movie' lists everywhere. To celebrate these comic masterpieces, we are very pleased to have been able to reproduce a classic image from each of these seminal films.
THE KID (1921) - £24.99
Featuring Jackie Coogan as Chaplin's adopted son and sidekick, The Kid was the second-highest grossing film of 1921. This stunning image shows Chaplin and Coogan in a classic scene from the film.
THE GOLD RUSH (1925) - £24.99
Regarded by many as the quintessential Little Tramp film, The Gold Rush sees Charlie take part in the Alaska Gold Rush which provides the perfect backdrop for a mix of slapstick comedy, social satire, and emotional tenderness.
THE CIRCUS (1928) - £24.99
Despite a difficult production, The Circus went on to become the 7th highest grossing silent film in cinema history. This remarkable image shows Chaplin locked in a cage with a lion.
CITY LIGHTS (1931) - £24.99
Although talking pictures had taken over, City Lights was still shot as a silent - something that was only possible due to Chaplin's complete artistic and financial control over his work. This image is the most melancholy in our collection - and shows Charlie pining for a blind flower seller that he has fallen in love with.
MODERN TIMES (1936) - £24.99
Modern Times sees Chaplin's famous Little Tramp character struggling to survive in the industrialised world - and although this image of Chaplin sitting on huge industrial cogs has been reproduced many times before, never has it been made available at such high resolution, clarity and detail.
